Beaufort County is a county located in the state of South Carolina in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Beaufort.

Geography

The County is located in the south of South Carolina, bounded on the southeast by the Atlantic Ocean and has an area of ​​2390 square kilometers, of which 870 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Colleton County, Jasper County and Hampton County

History

Beaufort County was formed in 1764. It was named after the Duke of Beaufort, one of the owners of the province of Carolina.
