Beauraing ( Walloon Biarin ) is a commune in the French-speaking province of Namur. It consists of the 15 districts Baronville, Beauraing, Dion, Felenne, Feschaux, Focant, Froidfontaine, Honnay, Javingue, Martouzin - Neuville, Pondrôme, Vonêche, Wancennes, Winenne and Wiesme that were independent communities until 1977. Beauraing is known as a place of pilgrimage for his Marian shrine.

Policy

The municipal council ( Conseil communal ) has 14 members ( Conseillers ); out of it the Collège with the mayor ( Bourg Mestre) and four lay judges ( Échevins ) is formed.

Pilgrimage

Between November 29, 1932 and the January 3, 1933 five children were between nine and fifteen years, 33 times a Marian apparition in the garden of a boarding school run by nuns. This led to pilgrimages to Beauraing. In July 1949, recognized André Marie Charue, Bishop of Namur, two miraculous healings through the intercession of the Virgin of Beauraing in the year 1933. 1954 a chapel was built, in 1968 a church.
