Beb Bakhuys

Elisa Hendrik Bakhuijs, better known as Beb or Bep Bakhuys (* April 16, 1909 in Pekalongan, the Dutch East Indies; † July 7, 1982 in The Hague) was a Dutch football player.

During his career he played for VVV Venlo, the ZAC from Zwolle and the HBS Craeyenhout. As he moved in 1937 to FC Metz in France, he was the first Dutchman, who signed a contract abroad as a professional footballer. After the end of his career in 1947 he returned to the Netherlands.

Between 1928 and 1937 he played 23 games for the Dutch national football team and was able to achieve 28 goals. Bakhuijs took part in the World Cup 1934. After 1937, he signed a professional contract with Metz, he had to leave the national team, because at the time were allowed to play in the Netherlands only amateurs.
