Bebel Gilberto

Bebel Gilberto [ bebɛl ʒilbɛrtu ] ( born May 12, 1966 New York; born Isabel Gilberto de Oliveira ) is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. She is the daughter of João Gilberto and Miúcha ( Heloísa Buarque de Hollanda, Chico Buarques sister), two sizes in the music scene in Brazil.

Bebel Gilberto began as a child singing in choirs and on plates for children, also she performed in musicals.

During the 1980s, she tried a solo career, and worked mainly with Cazuza, but also other stars of the Música Popular Brasileira. In 1991 she moved to New York where she collaborated with David Byrne, Arto Lindsay and DJ Towa Tei and their Bossa Nova sought to merge with other styles of music to create new sounds. In 2000, they brought along with the DJ and producer Suba out their CD Tanto Tempo, with which they made ​​it to the charts in the world music. In 2001, to build on the success of her début CD, Tanto Tempo Remixes out the plate. Followed in 2004, which produced by Marius de Vries album Bebel Gilberto, in 2005 the remixes, where among other things, Thievery Corporation, DJ Spinna or Nuspirit Helsinki were involved.

Their songs Samba as bencao, Tanto Tempo and corn feliz were part of the soundtrack of the film Closer.
