Geography

Bebertal is located about six kilometers south-west of Haldensleben.

History

The municipality was established on July 1, 1950 through the merger of the municipalities Alvensleben and Dönstedt. The territory of the municipality Bebertal was settled very early, as shown by a total of 43 proven megalithic tombs. The largest and most famous is the king grave near the lodge oak.

The name of the place Dönstedt is first found in a charter of Emperor Otto I in the year 961, the first, however, unsecured documented mention of Alvensleben was 964 in a list of assets of the monastery Gernrode.

The former municipality Alvensleben created in 1928 from the front still independent parts Alvensleben village, market Alvensleben and the castle complex. Its history is closely connected with the castle Alvensleben.

On January 1, 2010, the formerly independent communities Bebertal, Ackendorf, Eichenbarleben, United Santersleben, Hermsdorf, Hohenwarsleben, Irxleben, Niederndodeleben, Nordgermersleben, Ochtmersleben, Schackensleben and waves merged to form the new municipality of High flange.

Coat of arms and flag

The coat of arms was approved on 30 January 1996 by the Government Bureau of Magdeburg. It was designed by the Magdeburg Heraldikerin Erika Fiedler.

Blazon: "Divided of red and gold; above a golden bar accompanied by three (2:1) silver roses with golden slugs and sepals, down a red linden branch. "

The division sign red on gold ( the colors of Alvenslebenschen ) symbolizing the two districts Alvensleben and Dönstedt.
