Bechhofen is a municipality in the southwest, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Zweibrücken -Land.

Geography

The village lies at the foot of the Sickinger height and is traversed from northeast to southwest from Lambsbach.

History

The place Bechhofen was first mentioned in documents in 1191.

After the administrative and territorial reform in 1972 Bechhofen was annexed by the county Zweibrücken the district Pirmasens, which in turn was renamed Circle Southwest Palatinate in 1997.

The local council in Bechhofen consists of 16 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 in a personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " From Red and Black by a silver shaft rod split, right three perpendicular golden ears of corn, about a silver clasp helmet, including a silver gear, left rotbezungter and reinforced golden lion ".

It was awarded in 1982 by the District Government of Rheinhessen-Pfalz.

The Spangenhelm is a reference to the 1200 call to end after the place Ritter. The ears and the gear represent the agricultural and industrial branch of industry in the town of Palatine dar. The lion refers to the dukes of Zweibrücken as local lords, the predominant signs in the right half crest colors on its predecessor, the Count of Homburg.

  • Thomas Dooley ( born 1961 ), German -American football player, German champion and cup winner with the 1st FC Kaiserslautern, UEFA Cup winner with FC Schalke 04, 81 caps for the United States. For his birthplace Bechhofen he played in the youth and as an active player until 1979.
