Geography

Bechtheim situated within the conservation area "Rhine Hessian Rhine area ". The municipality also includes the residential places Bechtheim -West and Welheimer yard.

History

A Frankish nobleman named " Bero " should have taken in the 6th century here his mansion and " Beroheim " founded, from which developed the place Bechtheim. A precursor of today's Church St. Lambert was built in the 8th century by the Bishopric of Liege, whose family has owned the place came at that time.

Was first documented Bechtheim 793 in a document of the monastery of Fulda. The name was 817 Berthahem 1193 Berthehem. In Lorsch codex of the place in 1070 is mentioned.
