P1F1

The Beckumer mountains, named after the town of Beckum, in the North Rhine-Westphalian circles Warendorf and Soest one to 174.4 m above sea level. NHN high hills in Münster.

In addition to the tree mountains along with foothills and the Halterner mountains which located in the southeast of the core Münster country Beckumer mountains are among the few of their environment significantly superior surveys in the otherwise flat wave Munsterland (mean 55 m ), the Werse leaves the ridge to the west to approximately 100 m and in the southwest the lip at Hamm- Uentrop vertically to 60 m, but some distance from the center of gravity of, happened.

Geographical location

The Beckumer mountains are located in the southeastern part of the country Münster mainly on the territory of the municipalities Beckum ( west), Wadersloh (southeast), Oelde (northeast) and Ennigerloh (Northwest) - all the district of Warendorf. The extreme southwest lies in Lippetal ( Soest ).

The mountain range extends in the form of an open west horseshoe to the west of the center town in Beckum around, the north lower altitudes reached as east and south. Overall, he frames the core Munsterland, southeast whose center he is, gently, confining it to the neighborhood out gruffly.

Nature regions

The Beckumer mountains are broken down as follows ( in the finer subunits with two decimal places are better for locating individual villages linked ):

  • (Westfälische to 54 Bay ) ( to 541 core Munsterland ) 541.3 Beckumer mountains 541.30 Dolberger Heights - South
  • 541.31 Stromberg plate - East
  • 541.32 Oelder Riedelland - North East
  • 541.33 Beckumer top - west
  • 541.34 Ennigerloher plate - Northwest

Geology and Mineral Resources

The Beckumer mountains provide a pronounced cuesta landscape of Cretaceous marine deposits dar. From the center of an open westward dip at Beckum starting, the landscape rises, especially to the south and east, but also to the north, at first gradually, to the highest heights of the mountain group reached. On the southern and western edge of the trough Beckumer Höxbergstufe is achieved with the Höxberg ( 162.6 m) in the south and the mountain Mack ( 174.4 m ) to the east, beyond which the landscape drops abruptly. Outwardly includes the slightly lower, but still steeper towards the edge sloping Stromberg stage, named after Stromberg northeast of Beckum on. In the northeast of Beckum mountains follows the Drombergstufe, named after the Dromberg (<100 m, east of Ennigerloh - Ostenfelde ) that by only about 20 m towers over its surrounding area to the outside.

Are often found on the steeper slopes outward stages grazed Magerrasen, otherwise change the natural ( climax ) vegetation between red beech forest and oak-hornbeam forest. Are grown, apart from slopes and lowlands, primarily wheat and oats.

In mineral resources, however, predominantly limestone, which is mined between Beckum and Ennigerloh to a large extent and is used in the cement industry located there. Previously also strontianite was mined here with limestone, which was used as a whitening agent for the sugar industry.

History

To the south of Beckum is located just southeast of the Hermannsberg the great cultural monument (KD) German camp, north of the mountain, the small KD German graves.

Watercourses

In the mountains Beckumer Kollenbach, Lippbach and Siechenbach arise, which unite in the Werse and leave the mountains to the west in order to turn later to the north and flow into the Ems. Also from the Beckumer mountains to the north ( Axtbach ) and east (eg Forth Bach, Linzelbach, Bergeler brook ) flowing streams aspire to the Ems, while extending to the south ( Liese, beasts Bach, Bröggelbach ) open into the lip.

Forest areas

Some great forests of the mountains are the Beckumer Vellerner Brook, the High Hagen at Neubeckum, the Bergeler forest between Oelde and Stromberg and the forest areas on mountains and Mack Diestedder mountain.
