Becquigny (Somme)

Becquigny ( Picard: Bècgny ) is a northern French village with 106 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, is part of the Communauté de communes du canton de Montdidier, in the canton Montdidier.

Geography

The municipality is located almost entirely south on the left bank of the Avre in the landscape Santerre about eight kilometers northeast of Montdidier on the road department D214E.

History

In the municipality Gallo- Roman finds were uncovered. Becquigny was first mentioned in 1119. The place belonged to the abbey of Saint- Corneille in Compiègne. There was a Templar branch.

The drawn affected in World War Municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
