Bedretto

Bedretto ( tess.: Büdree ) is a municipality in the district of Leventina Airolo in the district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.

Bedretto located west of Airolo in Bedrettotal. To the municipality, the hamlet Ossasco, Villa Bedretto include (German Romig or Romegg ), Bedretto, Ronco Bedretto and All'Acqua. The Town Hall stands in Villa Bedretto.

Population

Today the community Bedretto counts only a few residents, mostly seniors. As the valley in the winter months often remains totally cut off from the outside world and little work opportunities, the boys do not stay in the valley. According to the census, which was conducted by the Federal Statistical Office in 2000, Bedretto is the oldest community in Switzerland, with the highest proportion of over-65s in the population. However, the population appears to be stabilizing since the turn of the millennium.
