Geography

The municipality is located in the southern Emsland Beesten at the Great Aa, about 16 kilometers south-east of Lingen and 23 kilometers northwest of Ibbenbueren.

History

Beesten belonged in the Middle Ages to the County of Tecklenburg. After the defeat of Tecklenburg counts in the Smalcald War Beesten 1548 became part of the County of Lingen. Church of St. Servatius
