Beetzsee

The Lake Beetz is a glacial Rinnensee in the western state of Brandenburg. It covers 22 km, first north, then after a sharp bend to the northeast into the district of Potsdam - agent Mark and ends at the border of the county Havel country. The lake itself is completely part of the territory of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, the limit being the independent city often coincides with the mean shoreline or is a few meters from the shore. The lake has a maximum depth of nine meters with an average depth of 3 meters. Numerous protected landscapes characterize the Betzsee and its banks. It is located in the Natural Park Westhavelland.

The Beetzsee is very popular with sailors, fishermen, swimmers, rowers and motor boaters. A major national and international sports venue offers the regatta course on the Lake Beetz. The race track is located in the city of Brandenburg. It is many national and international water sports events since 1969 venue. In 2009, the Lake Beetz with his race track was in the city of Brandenburg venue for the Canoe Sprint European Championships. The most prominent local resident is the eight-time Olympic canoe champion Birgit Fischer, who began her career here.

Churches on Lake Beetz

The villages on Lake Beetz are traditionally Protestant and belong to the Evangelical Church of Berlin- Brandenburg -Silesian Upper Lusatia ( EKBO ). The majority of them are summarized in the parish Paewesin and is managed by the pastor in Paewesin. Some of the churches have about regional notoriety. So is the church of Ketzür, which actually consists of two series- built churches, known for its special murals and their unusual epitaph far beyond the borders of the region. Also famous is the church Bagow, which is often referred to as the wedding church in Brandenburg.

Legend
