Begazy-Dandybai culture

The Begasy - Dandybai culture was in the late Bronze Age, in the second half of the 2nd millennium BC used in the steppes and semi-deserts of central Kazakhstan. It was preceded by a local expression of the Cultural Committee of the Andronovo culture.

Your pottery is distinguished from the goods of the preceding epoch from clear: it can be found in particular pots with S- shaped profile and bottle-like vessels. The decoration of the ceramics was carried out by Wulstzier, clover leaf motifs and - here is a tradition from the Andronovo culture - shaded geometric patterns.

Despite the very arid climate, the carrier of the Begasy - Dandybai culture as their predecessors were settled; some settlement sites are known accordingly. They often lay on the river terraces and covered in rare cases, several dozen mostly single-room houses. This had a rectangular floor plan and measured an average of 6 × 15 m and were partially ground level, partially sunk. Their walls were composed of a post construction that could be reinforced with vertical slabs.

Animal bones show that the attitude of cattle, sheep, goat, camel and horse dominated the economy of the Begasy - Dandybai culture; hunting, however, was only of secondary importance. Agriculture can not be clearly demonstrated, however, could use some dam facilities have served to irrigate fields. It can be found next to it is also evidence of copper mining and bronze metallurgy.

The dead were buried in rectangular grave pits, partly in stone boxes, and in a crouched position. Then the grave was surrounded by a rectangular stone enclosure; partly a kurganartiger hill was heaped. In some cemeteries, there are also mausoleenartige stone with wooden structure; show the relatively rich grave goods that members of an upper class were buried here. Accordingly, in the Begasy - Dandybai culture thus approaches a social hierarchy had been formed, which is a significant difference to the Andronovo culture.

On the Begasy - Dandybai culture possibly followed with a certain temporal distance the Tasmola culture whose institutions no longer sedentary but nomadic horsemen were.
