BeIA (Be Internet appliances ) was a limited version of Be Incorporateds operating system BeOS, especially for embedded systems.
The company Be cooperated in the development of BeIA with the software manufacturers Opera, the Opera browser was used under BeIA, as well as Real Media, as their RealPlayer also found use in BeIA. Other partners were the hardware manufacturer Compaq and National Semiconductor.
As application area for BeIA webpads or set-top boxes were intended. Therefore BeIA offered only programs to access the Internet, such as a browser and an e -mail program or multimedia applications, such as RealPlayer. In addition BeIA booted in a very short time.
