Beiersdorf, Saxony

Beiersdorf ( sorb. Bejerecy ) is an applied as Waldhufendorf Saxon municipality in the district Görlitz. It belongs to the administrative community OppachEquipment - Beiersdorf.

Geography and transport

The community Beiersdorf located in the western part of the district Görlitz in the Lusatian mountains, near the border with North Bohemia (Czech Republic). It is located about 18 km south of Bautzen and 11 km west of Lobau. The highest mountain is the Bieleboh (the name comes from the Slavic word meaning " White God " ) with 499 meters.

The Federal Highway 96 runs west of the municipality.

By Beiersdorf wrong until 17 September 1945, the narrow gauge railway pigeons home Dürrhennersdorf, which was dismantled as a result of the Second World War as war reparations to the Soviet Union. Nearest railway station is now Spremberg located on the railway line Oberoderwitz - Wilthen, about 5 km south of Beiersdorf.

History

The foundation of the settlement, Beiersdorf was apparently after 1200 in the time of the German peasant land by locators. In his first documentary mention on January 21, 1272 the place is listed as episcopal meißnisches interest village, together with the villages Cunewalde, Spremberg and low Friedersdorf. From 1559 to Beiersdorf was kursächsisch and belonged to Stolpener office. The manor Beiersdorf had only gradually developed. 1489 Hans von Rechenberg was enfeoffed to OppachEquipment by Bishop John of Meissen with Beiersdorf. Since then until the 17th century, the village remained in the possession of computing Bergische family.

1939 Neulauba was incorporated.

The name should be named after the locator " Beyer / Beier ". Another origin of the name derives from the tribal name of Bavaria.
