Beilrode

Beilrode is a municipality in the district of North Saxony, Saxony. It is the seat of the administrative community Beilrode.

Geography and transport

The municipality is located in the Labe region east of the Elbe and the southern boundary of Anna Burger Heide at the border of the Land Brandenburg. The neighboring towns are Torgau ( 4 km), Belgern - Schildau (10 km) and Falkenberg / Elster ( 13 km). Federal highway 183 runs south, State Road 87 and the railway Halle- Cottbus run through the municipality. In the municipality there is a small airfield

History

Beilrode was built in 1938 by the merger of the two separate villages Zeckritz and Zschackau. After 1990, the village was incorporated Döbrichau on the B 87 in the direction of Herzberg / Elster.

The volunteer fire department in Beilrode 2006 celebrating its 110th anniversary.

The windmill in the district Zschackau was destroyed on December 4, 1779, a storm.

On 1 January 2011, the two communities Beilrode and Großtreben - Zwethau merged to form the new municipality with Beilrode now eleven districts together.
