Legs is a commune in the French department Yonne ( Burgundy region) in the near Auxerre and Pontigny. The municipality has 539 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011), has an area of 21.57 km ² and is situated at an altitude of 180 meters above the sea. Legs is not far from Chablis.

Economy and infrastructure

Legs is a predominantly by agriculture (viticulture and fruit growing ) embossed village. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The Chablis is the northernmost wine region in Burgundy. On the limestone slopes exclusively Chardonnay is grown. The vineyards spread over legs and 19 adjacent municipalities. The winery also have the right, regional appellations Bourgogne, Bourgogne Aligoté, Bourgogne Passe Tout Grain, Bourgogne Grand Ordinaire and Crémant de Bourgogne to use.

Population

With 539 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) is one of the legs to the small communities of the department of Yonne. Once the population has decreased in the first half of the 20th century, a continuous increase in the number of inhabitants was recorded since the early 1960s again.
