Beith

Beith (Gaelic: A ' Bheithe ) is a town in the Scottish Unitary Authority North Ayrshire. With the mansion Woodside House is a monument of the highest category A Scottish monument in the area of Beith.

Geography

Beith is a small town on the eastern border of the neighboring North Ayrshire Renfrewshire. It lies about 16 kilometers northeast of Irvine and 31 kilometers south-west of Glasgow in 105 m height. Beith is traversed by any large stream, but is a few hundred meters east of Kilbirnie hole. West of the lake flows the Garnock. The nearest town is three kilometers west of Kilbirnie.

History

The name is derived from Gaelic Beithe Beith, meaning " birch ". After initially these were only a small hamlet, Beith grew in the 18th century during the industrial revolution. 1759, the population had grown to around 700 and had doubled by 1788 to around 1500., This development was the arrival of the textile industry due to the long time constituted an important economic sector in Beith. Traffic

Beith is connected by the A737, which connects Irvine and Paisley to the road network. In the 19th century, the city was connected to the railway network.
