Beko

Grundig Elektronik A.Ş. (until 2007 Beko Elektronik A.Ş. ) was a former listed company, the consumer electronics produced (mainly in the field of television) and large electrical appliances. It was part of Koç Holding and was merged in 2009 to the sister company Arçelik that uses Grundig further as one of their main brands.

History

1954 arranged Vehbi Koç, the founder of the Koç Group, a cooperation with the company Bejerano, which specialized in the production of tomato paste in cans. The first two letters of Bejerano and Koc is the first company Beko deduced.

The young company established the first Turkish company, a customer belieferndes distribution network in Anatolia and began in the same year for General Electric with the sale of incandescent light bulbs. The company was A.Ş. due to the expansion of its application area in Beko Ticaret Vehbi Koç, later Beko Elektronik A.Ş. renamed.

In 1983 the company started the production and distribution of white goods.

When promoting the now holding parent company wanted to sell household appliances in the global market in the 1990s, they decided to fast for Beko Arçelik instead. The Beko brand became, for example in the UK with the help of an aggressive pricing policy is fast becoming a major service provider of electrical appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines and dishwashers and dryers. In the 1990s, more European companies were bought, such as Elektra Bregenz, Tirola and Blomberg.

In 2004 it was decided together with the English Electric Company Alba radio, the Home InterMedia System ( HIS) of the insolvent German company Grundig for 80 million euros to buy, which operated since then as a limited company with the name of Grundig Intermedia.

In December 2007, Beko took over the shares of Alba radio. In April, 2008, Beko Elektronik A.Ş. Grundig Elektronik A.Ş. renamed. In December 2008, the development of Grundig Intermedia GmbH was closed in Nuremberg and more in Istanbul approximately 450 employees ( one in four ) dismissed.

Sponsoring

Beko is often served as sponsor of the basketball sports, such as the basketball league in Germany, the Turkish Türkiye Ligi Basketbol and the World or European Championships 2010 in Turkey and 2011 in Lithuania.
