Bekzat Sattarkhanov

Beksat Sattarchanow (Cyrillic Бекзат Саттарханов; born April 4, 1980 in Turkistan, † December 31, 2000 in Shymkent ) was a Kazakh boxer.

Sattarchanow occupied at the Junior World Championships ( U19) 1998 in Beijing the second place in the featherweight. In the quarterfinals, he defeated while the later multiple Olympic and world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, but the final lost against Servin Suleymanow from Ukraine.

At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney he won the gold medal in the featherweight class. In the final he beat the Americans Ricardo Juarez on points. The victory is considered controversial; the U.S. team asked for the fight for a revision of the result, since Sattarchanow have clung excessively in the fight. The Russian referee has been banned as a result of the review for four years for all international competitions, but the battle judgment remained.

Sattarchanow died on New Year's Eve of 2000 in a traffic accident in the Kazakh capital Astana at the age of twenty.
