Bel Air is one of the 25 administrative districts of the Seychelles. The district forms a part of the capital Victoria and one of the oldest settlement sites in the archipelago. Parts of the port, in particular the Inter- Iceland Ferry Terminal as well as some public institutions on Independence Avenue are part of the district, which counts in its eastern area into one of the most popular residential areas of the Seychelles capital .. There, at the foot of the 901 m high mountain Morne Seychellois there is an old cemetery where many of the first settlers of the island are buried. The cemetery, although already fallen into disrepair, is a national monument and one of the attractions on the island of Mahé. Also in Bel Air is the former Government House, which is now considered State House Office of the President of the Seychelles. 1956/57, spent the Cypriot Archbishop Makarios little over a year of his exile in a house in Bel Air
