Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Assembly)

The Belarusian Social Democratic Party ( Hramada ) ( Belarusian Беларуская сацыял - дэмакратычная партыя ( Грамада ) also Gramada; German "community"; BSDP H ) is the largest social democratic party in Belarus. The BSDP (H ) was founded on 25 June 2005 and goes back to the White Russian Socialist Hramada.

History and Program

The BSDP (H ) is in opposition to the authoritarian regime of President Alyaksandr Lukashenka and is a member of the opposition alliance European Coalition Free Belarus ( ECFB ). Your former Chairman, Alyaksandr Kazulin, 2006 was at the same time also the presidential candidate of the Alliance for Belarus ECFB and gained in elections as the third strongest candidate 3.2% of the vote ( presidential elections in Belarus 2006). He and his party were involved in the protests against irregularities in the election. Kazulin was arrested for political reasons and was released from prison after more than two years on 16 August 2008.

Alyaksandr Kazulin successor at the head of the party was Anatol Ljaukowitsch. Silk 2011 BSDP is directed (H ) by Iryna Wiesztard.
