Belgian Golden Shoe

With the Belgian Golden Shoe of the most outstanding players in the Belgian league is awarded since 1954 every year.

The winner will be selected by a panel of sports journalists, members of the Belgian Football Association and former laureates; Organizer of the award is the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.

Paul Van Himst with four awards currently the most common title holder. The Dutchman Johan Boskamp 1975 was the first foreign player who was honored and Pär Zetterberg, the first foreigner who received the trophy several times. Title Winners 2011 is the Argentinean Martín Suárez of RSC Anderlecht. On the second and third landed two Belgians in the election with Axel Witsel, winner of 2008, and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
