Belgian Third Division

The third division is the third two-track league in Belgian football. It consists of the 3rd Division A and the 3rd Division B with 18 participating teams.

History

The league was introduced for the season 1926/27, bears the name '3. Division, however, only since the 1952/53 season.

Game Mode

The course of the season is divided into three sections (called tranches), which consist of ten, twelve, and again twelve encounters. The end of the season each of the first two seasons rise immediately to the 2nd Division. The best of each season sections (a total of six teams) will qualify for the play-off phase. As a seventh team in the 16th the 2nd Division encounters added. The winner of the relegation increases in addition to the 2nd Division or shall (in the case of the 16th of the 2nd Division ) compete in this once again in the new season.
