Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 1979
The Belgian national preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest 1979 was Euro Song 1979.
System
Before the finale, there were four semi-finals. In the first of the previously selected BRT interpreter Micha Marah presented six songs. After the audience voted, the song with the fewest votes was voted out. In the fourth semi-final so should really only three titles start, but Micha Marah performer could "save" a previously out selected track.
In the final, then took the three titles that have not been voted out in the fourth semi-final.
Participant
First semi-final
The song Mooi prater has been selected. Micha Marah, it chose not to participate in the fourth semi-final.
Second semi-final
All zal zich weer herhalen has been selected, but " preserved " by Micha Marah, so it still was allowed to participate in the fourth semi-final.
Third semifinal
Avenues has been selected but not saved by Micha Marah.
Fourth Semifinal
Final
The three songs Mijn dagboek, Hey nana and Comment ça va qualified for the final.
After the final Micha Marah tried, which was never in agreement with the selection to replace Hey nana by Comment ça va. This remained but to no avail, so the singer in Jerusalem Hey nana sang. The song brought her no happiness: With five points - two each from Denmark and the United Kingdom and one from the Federal Republic of Germany - they reached together with Christina Simons Today in Jerusalem last.
