Beli (jötunn)

Beli is a giant in Norse mythology. He fell in battle against the god Freyr, who killed him for lack of his sword with a deer antler. In kennings Freyr is often called bani Belja ( " Belis Slayer ").

As Freyr his sword to his servant Skirnir was to stop the hand of Gerdr, and complained them, they will never marry the slayer of her brother, it is assumed that Gerdr and Beli were siblings.

Beli is also the name of a horse in the Kálfsvísa, a poem in the Edda Snorra.
