Belize Zoo

The Belize Zoo ( full name: Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center ) is located halfway between Belize City and Belmopan and is the largest zoo in the Central American Belize.

The zoo was founded in 1983 and had originally intended to have captured wild animals after completion of a series of documentary films a refuge. In the following years we recognized the need to more closely match the native population, the wildlife of their country. To date, the Belize Zoo houses only there indigenous species.

The zoo is about twelve acres in size and it can around 125 different animal species from the region to visitors. Connected to the Zoo is a 30 acre Jungle Lodge where you can wander through the savannah landscape over bridges and nature trails.

Zoo are made in different regions of Central America reintroductions of endangered animals from Belize Together with foreign organizations.
