Bell 214ST

The Bell 214ST is a medium -lift helicopter with two engines and was developed from the widely used Bell UH -1 Huey - series. Although he has the same model number as the Bell 214, these are two different models developed.

History

The 214ST was originally developed as a military project, which was designed specifically for production in Iran. The development was funded by the Iranian government. The prototype first flew in February 1977 in Texas, three prototypes followed in 1978.

The overthrow of the Shah in 1979 led Bell to change the production plans. The 214ST has now been produced in Dallas -Fort Worth and first built as a civilian and later as a military model. The production of the 214ST began in 1981. The airworthiness certification by the FAA and CAA for visual and instrument flight was granted in 1982. The military version was then delivered from 1982.

Construction
