Bell is a city in Los Angeles County in the U.S. state of California. It has about 38,100 inhabitants ( as of 2004). The city lies at the geographic coordinates 33.98 ° N, 118.18 ° West. The metropolitan area has a size of 6.8 km ².

History

Lugo Family

By the year 1860 the city of Bell was part of the 121 -acre " Rancho San Antonio " the Spanish settler Don Antonio Maria Lugo. Don Antonio Maria Lugo was a Spanish aristocrat and former soldier, whose father, Francisco Lugo, in 1771 came to California. As of 1860, the huge ranch was divided into several small and there was a settlement, which developed into the city Bell over the next few decades.

Bell Family

James George Bell and his family were pioneers who gave the city its name. The Bell family then bought a 1.4 km ² piece of land. They lived in the townhouse on 4th Breed Street until they moved in 1876. 1898, the city got the name Bell.
