Bell Island

Bell Iceland is an island in the Bay of Conception Bay Avalon in eastern Newfoundland region (Canada, North Atlantic ). She is 9 times 3 km in size and has about 4000 inhabitants, many of whom now commute to work in St. John's. 1895-1966 iron ore was mined and mostly exported to Europe. 1942 attacked German U- boats to the island and circulating in the surrounding waters ore carrier. Due to the attacks on St. John's and traces of German activity in Labrador, the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador is the only region in North America, which experienced fighting in the Second World War.
