Bella Union

Bella Union is a UK based independent record label that was founded in 1997 by Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde. The two had previously shared band members with Cocteau Twins and had their albums previously released on the British label 4AD, before they decided to take a step towards independence and to start their own record label Bella Union, with which they now have their own work as well as could produce and market collaborations of all kinds on their own terms. A short time later, however, dissolved the Cocteau Twins, but the former band members Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde continued their collaboration continued and sold under that label their solo works.

One of the first bands that was signed was the Australian post- rock trio Dirty Three, which was published today at Bella Union. Other early contractors were Françoiz Breut and The Czars. The label promoted bands from different musical genres and soon became known for the high degree of artistic freedom, enjoyed the bands. 2000 Robin Guthrie moved back to France in order to focus on his solo projects, so that Simon Raymonde took over sole management. Since then, extraordinary acts such as Laura Veirs, Lift To Experience and Explosions In The Sky were put under contract increased. 2006, the label his most successful year with the great success of Midlake, The Dears, Howling Bells and Fionn Regan. 2007 celebrated its 10th anniversary the label.
