Belle Toujours is a Portuguese- French film director Manoel de Oliveira from the year 2006.

Action

The film is designed as a continuation of Luis Buñuel's film Belle de Jour 1967. Henri Husson meets Séverine Sérizy after a few decades by chance at a concert again. After some reluctance, she agrees to a dinner for a second that she leaves prematurely for a variety of conversation, as Henri comes repeatedly to talk to the excesses of their past.

Reception

The film is a homage to Buñuel, Oliveira particularly revered for his irony in his despair at the people, and with whom he shares the respect of the private. Again, Michel Piccoli plays the worshipers Husson while Séverine 2006 is played by Bulle Ogier (1967 played by Catherine Deneuve ). The expressive photography of the film and especially the precise drawn characters in their upper middle-class, ostensibly sophisticated ambience, here are the essential features.

" The artful and ingenious, theatrically excellent reflection shows people who suffer from their ill feelings and their supposed determination can not escape. "

The film was nominated on 8 September 2006 at the 63rd International Film Festival of Venice premiere and was for several awards, including for the Globo de Ouro and the European Film Awards.
