Bellingham is a town in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Washington in Whatcom County, the county seat ( county seat ) it is at the same time. The city is located on the Pacific coast, at the Bellingham Bay, and had the 2010 U.S. census on 1 April 2010 with a population of 80 885.

From the population and the local press, the city City of Subdued Excitement is called (German "city of subdued excitement "). Bellingham is home to Western Washington University, with over 12 000 students socially and culturally significant influences life in the city and is an important economic factor.

History

The English Captain George Vancouver explored the coast in 1792 and named the bay after Sir William Bellingham, who had been responsible for equipping the expedition of Vancouver in the British navy.

The city of Bellingham was founded on November 4, 1903.
