BellSouth

BellSouth was an American holding company in the telecommunications sector, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. BellSouth was one of seven Regional Bell Operating Companies, which have emerged from an antitrust action by the U.S. Department of Justice against AT & T in 1984. AT & T was forced into this method to give up his interests in all regional telephone companies.

The end of 2006 the company was acquired by AT & T again and again merged with this. The combined company kept the company AT & T, while some joint ventures between the companies has been consolidated ( Cingular Wireless, Yellowpages.com ).

The services of BellSouth are now offered under the name AT & T South and AT & T Southeast market. The use of the company BellSouth was discontinued in June 2007.

BellSouth was the last of the incurred after the break-up of AT & T regional companies still used the Bell logo.
