Beloretsk

Belorezk (Russian Белорецк, Bashkir Белорет / Beloret ) is a city in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russia) with 68.806 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is situated in the Southern Urals, about 250 km southeast of the Republic capital Ufa on the Belaya, a left tributary of the Kama.

Belorezk is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

History

The town was founded in 1762 as a settlement in which the merchant Ivan Twerdyschew ferrous Belorezki Sawod and received 1923 under the present name of a town.
