Belt of Venus

The Venus Belt, or even Venus band, is an atmospheric optical phenomenon, consisting of a mostly pink to orange- colored band running parallel to the horizon at an altitude of 10 ° -20 ° shortly before sunrise or shortly after sunset.

It can run in the best case over an angular range of 180 degrees and is usually separated at the site of the antisolar point from the horizon by a dark blue bow, the Erdschattenbogen. The color of the belt, which typically range from orange to pink, is formed on the side of the antisolar point through the rest of the counter dusk.

The reference to the name of the planet Venus is derived from the visibility of the planet from the only star (morning or evening star ) during this time of day. This time of day is more accurately referred to as the early civil twilight.
