Bemidbar (parsha)

Bemidbar or Bamidbar (Hebrew " In the desert " ) denotes a reading section ( or Parasha Sidra called ) of the Torah, and includes the text of Numbers / Bemidbar 1.1 to 4.20.

It is the Sidra of the 5th Sabbath in the month of Iyar or the first Sabbath of the month of Sivan.

Gist

  • Appointment of the twelve tribal leaders
  • Census of the men of 20 years and upwards in the individual strains
  • Allocation of storage locations for the strains
  • Census of the Levites, separated by the families of Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. Your establishment instead of the firstborn as Minister of the sanctuary

  • Appointment of their prince, count of first-born and collection of the ransom of the majority of the first-born compared to the Levites to Aaron and his sons
