Ben l'Oncle Soul

Ben l' Oncle Soul ( born 1984 in Tours, France; actually Benjamin Duterde ) is a French soul singer and songwriter.

Career

He grew up with the music of Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye. In 2004, he joined the gospel choir Fitiavana and in 2008 was discovered by Motown France through its websites and contracted.

Earlier in his career he joined the opening act on well-known artists such as Raphael Saadiq, Musiq Soulchild and India.Arie. There followed various collaborations with French artists such as Hocus Pocus Oxmo Puccino or. In 2009 he released his first EP called Soulwash, the cover versions of songs like Gnarls Barkley's Crazy, for example, or Katy Perry's I Kissed a Girl contains. However, he was known only by its own version of the song Seven Nation Army White Stripes, the first single from his second album Ben l' Oncle Soul. The album was released on 17 May 2010. It contains fourteen songs that are interpreted in English and in French. His music is strongly reminiscent of the Motownzeiten the 1950s and 1960s.

Ben l' Oncle Soul won the European Border Breakers Award, 2012. Since 2012, the song Petite sœur is used for television commercials for the candy bar Duplo.
