Ben Rutledge

Ben Rutledge ( born November 9, 1980 in Cranbrook ) is a Canadian rower, who won the 2008 Olympic gold medal in the eights.

2002 Seville Rutledge took part in the first World Rowing Championships and won with the Canadian eight at first the title. This track he could defend it successfully in the year. The world champion finished boat at the 2004 Olympics then only the fifth place. 2005 Rutledge was the seventh of eight at the World Championships, in 2006 he took the coxless four to eighth place. 2007 Rutledge returned back to the eighth. According to a World Cup victory in Lucerne aft also won at the World Rowing Championships 2007 in Munich. 2008, the eight won again in Lucerne. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing won the Canadian eight gold in the occupation of Andrew Byrnes, Kyle Hamilton, Malcolm Howard, Adam Kreek, Kevin Light, Ben Rutledge, Dominic Seiterle, Jake Wetzel and cox Brian Price.

In the years of his World Cup success (2002, 2003 and 2007), Rutledge won with the Canadian eight each also at the Henley Royal Regatta. Rutledge is a graduate of the University of British Columbia.
