Ben Witherington III

Ben Witherington III ( born December 30, 1951 in High Point, North Carolina, USA) is professor of New Testament Biblical exegesis at Asbury Theological Seminary.

Life

Ben Witherington graduated in 1974 from the University of North Carolina with a Master of Arts, made in 1977 Master of Divinity at Gordon - Conwell Seminary and a Ph.D. from the University of Durham on Women in the New Testament.

He is an ordained minister of the United Methodist Church and worked from 1980 to 1984 as pastor in a Methodist church. From 1984 to 1995 he taught at the Mennonite Ashland Theological Seminary New Testament, and since 1995 he has been a professor at Asbury Methodist Theology Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Ben Witherington gives numerous lectures and has performed in television shows such as History Channel, Discovery Channel or CNN special.

Ben Witherington is married and has two adult children.
