Bendiocarb is a chemical compound selected from the group of the substituted oxygen-containing heterocyclic compounds and carbamates, which is used as an insecticide.

History

Bendiocarb was first produced in 1971 and brought to market by the British company Fisons. It is currently marketed by Bayer CropScience and Kuo Ching under various trade names: Ficam, Dycarb, Garvox, Turcam, Niomil, Seedox, Tattoo.

Properties

Bendiocarb is a flammable colorless solid with a faint, aromatic odor, which is very slightly soluble in water. It decomposes above its melting temperature. Aqueous suspensions in a slow, in alkaline solutions, a rapid hydrolysis to the phenol (NC 7312 ) takes place.

Use

Biocide

According to Directive 98/8/EC of 16 February 1998 are to be biocidal products only approved products whose active substances in Annex (Annex I, IA and IB) of that Directive have been included ( for the defined product ). Pesticides

The drug was used primarily against the Colorado potato beetle, and seed treatment for sugar beet and fodder beet against the moss beetles button. He also was used against lawn and garden ants. In trade bendiocarb came as a wettable powder, seed powder, aerosol or granules. It was also beet Pillensaat available, which was provided in addition to bendiocarb with the fungicide thiram.

Bendiocarb is not on the list of allowed in the EU pesticide active ingredients. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, no plant protection products containing this active substance is approved.
