Benedict of Poland

Benedictus Polonus (Polish: Benedykt Polak, * 1200, † 1280 ) was a Polish Franciscan from Breslau, who participated in 1245-47 in the journey of John de Plano Carpini in Mongolia. The trip had the goal to move the Mongol Great Khan to stop the raids on the Christian countries. After his return he wrote the travel chronicle De Itinere Fratrum Minorum ad Tartaros.
