Benetton family

Luciano Benetton ( born May 13, 1935 in Ponzano ) is an Italian fashion entrepreneur and co-founder of the Benetton Group, whose president he remains.

Life and career

Benetton left at the age of 14 years, the school and was working in a fashion shop. In 1965 he founded together with his two brothers and his sister, the company Benetton, a company for textiles and knitwear. Benetton, which manages the affairs of the company until today, had announced in 2006 its withdrawal from the top of the company in favor of his son Alessandro ( b. 1964 ), but is still out on the company's website as "Chairman ". Between 1992 and 1994 he also served as Senator of the Republic of Italy.

Benetton's youngest son Rocco ( b. 1969 ) managed in the years 2000 to 2001 the company's Formula 1 team, Benetton Formula Limited racing team.

  • Giuliana Benetton ( born July 8, 1937) is in the Management of Edizione Holding and the Benetton Group. She is responsible for the planning departments of knitwear and coordination of product lines. Giuliana has four children.
  • Gilberto Benetton ( born June 19, 1941) is president of Edizione Holding and oversees all investment and the real estate sector. He is also chairman of Autogrill and director of the Benetton Group. He is also vice president of Olimpia, the main shareholder in the telecommunications sector and director of the company Autostrade SpA, Mediobanca SpA, Pirelli SpA and Abertis Infrastucturas SA. Gilberto has two children.
  • Carlo Benetton ( born December 26, 1943) is Vice Chairman of Edizione Holding and the Benetton Group. He is responsible for the production and the distribution between headquarters and international offices. Carlo has four children.

About the holding company Edizione holds the Benetton family today shares, inter alia, to Autostrade SpA, the operating company for almost two-thirds of the Italian motorway network, to Autogrill, a chain of motorway service stations, as well as on various Italian banks, insurance companies, media companies, airport operators and industrial companies such as Pirelli.
