Bengt Johansson

Bengt Johansson ( born July 24, 1942 in Halmstad ) is a former handball player and coach from Sweden. He is regarded as the most successful coach of the Swedish national handball team. Under his leadership, the " Bengan Boys" between 1988 and 2004 earned thirteen medals at sixteen international championships (Olympics, World Cup, European Championships ).

Bengt Johansson went to the school in his hometown into a reserve officer training and studied sociology and psychology afterwards. Between 1966 and 1968 he completed a training course for physical education teachers at the gym and sports high school in Stockholm.

In parallel, Johansson played handball. His clubs were Handbollspojkarnas IF and SoIK Hellas in Stockholm, and from 1971 to 1976 HK Drott Halmstad. From 1964 to 1972 played 83 times Johansson in the Swedish national team and took part in it, among others, at the Olympic Games in Munich.

Bengt Johansson was repeatedly Coach of HK Drott, such as player-coach 1974-1975, 1976-1984 and 1985-1988. After Johansson was appointed in 1988 to coach, he led the team in 471 countries compare. He was succeeded in 2004 Ingemar Linnell.
