Bengt Walden

Bengt Walden ( born March 16 1973 in Nacka ) is a former Swedish luger, who started from 2007 up to end of his career in 2011 for the United States. Since 2011 he is the coach of the Norwegian Luge team.

Bengt Walden is married to the U.S. luger Ashley Walden since 2007 and since then started for the United States. Previously, the Swede went to for his country. In 1985 he started with the luge, from 1988 he was a member of the Swedish national team. He started in single-seat and in doubles, mostly with Anders Söderberg. Walden took from 1990 to 1992 at three junior world championships and drove it three times into the top ten ( twice in the single-seater, and once in doubles ). From 1991, he also launched at the World Championships in the general class. His best World Cup finishes were two sixth places in the single-seater and the team competition at the 2009 World Championships in Lake Placid. Previously, he was only once came in ninth place of the two-seater competition of World Cup 2000, the fastest ten. At European Championships Walden took from 1994 to 2006 in part. This had been his best results of the ninth place in doubles in 1998 and the tenth place in the single-seater in 1994. From 1994 to 2010 Walden took part in four Olympic Winter Games, only 2006, he was not at the start. The best Olympic results he achieved the 15th place in the single-seaters in 2010 and 12th in doubles with Anders Söderberg 1998.

In spring 2011, Walden ended his active career at the age of 38 years. Then he succeeds Grant Albrecht as coach of the Norwegian Luge team.
