Bengt Westerberg

Bengt Westerberg ( born August 23, 1943 in Södertälje ) is a Swedish politician of the liberal Folkpartiet nutrition.

Life

Westerberg studied medicine at the Karolinska Institute in Solna, near Stockholm. After that, he studied economics and philosophy and graduated in 1974 at the University of Stockholm. From 1983 to 1995 Westerberg was party leader of the Popular Party. In the government of Carl Bildt, he was on 4 October 1991 to October 7, 1994 Minister of Social Affairs. From 1984 to 1994 Westerberg was sitting as a deputy in the Reichstag.

Westerberg was married twice. From his first marriage divorced originate and two daughters from his second marriage comes a divorced son.

By 2011, Westerberg was chairman of the Swedish Red Cross. He pulled back after Swedish media had objected to the amount of his salary.
