Beninese parliamentary election, 2011

The parliamentary elections in Benin in 2011 were carried out on 30 April 2011 at the West African nation of Benin, moved from the originally scheduled April 17. Were elected the 83 members of the National Assembly. The elections took place a few weeks after the presidential election and ended with the victory of the party pour un Bénin Emergent Forces Cauris that won 41 of 83 seats in Parliament. The victorious party was formed by supporters of the victorious in the presidential election prior and current President Yayi Boni. 3.6 million voters were called less than 1600 candidates and 20 parties and coalitions to choose. The choice came in the shadow of the presidential election only a small interest of the electorate. The main protagonists were the same as in the presidential election: The president supporting party Forces Cauris pour un Bénin Emergent stood as the only serious antagonist, the Union fait la Nation against, which had been formed as a coalition in support of presidential candidate Adrien Houngbedji against President Yayi Boni.
