Benjamin Auer

Benjamin Auer ( born January 11, 1981 in Landau ) is a former German football player.

Life

Benjamin Auer attended in his hometown of the Max Slevogt High School, where he made the High School and studied alongside his footballing career fitness economy. The diploma course he had a master's degree in health management follow.

Career

At the time of the U-20 World Championship 2001 in Argentina, where he was behind Javier Saviola, Adriano and Djibril Cisse 's fourth top scorer of the tournament, Auer was considered the largest German striking sensation. He belonged to Marcel Ketelaer to the young players that would form the backbone of a new Gladbach team. A cruciate ligament injury in the quarter- finals forced the striker from Borussia Mönchengladbach to a long pause. At this time, Auer had completed 31 second division games for Borussia and previously Karlsruher SC and scored three goals.

After his convalescence Gladbach put the striker sporadically in the second half of the Bundesliga season 2001/ 02. Due to differences with Gladbach coach Hans Meyer moved Auer shortly after the start of the following season to the second division 1 FSV Mainz 05

In Mainz Auer could not meet the high expectations for long. It was only in the tenth game the striker scored the first goal. That he nevertheless met ten times in his debut season, was also on the last day, at the Mainz 05 short of the ascent failed: The 4-1 win at Eintracht Braunschweig scored all four Auer Mainz goals. It developed in Mainz for the crowd favorite. In the following two years (one in the second, one in the first division ) Auer remained a regular player, but continued to take only every five or six games. Only in the first half of the season 2005/ 06 pointed to the " talent in the final stages " ( Auer about yourself ) an average of goals, which came close to his record in the junior national teams. In the second half Auer could not keep this cut.

During the summer break in 2006 Auer moved free transfer to newly promoted Bundesliga VfL Bochum. Due to a viral illness and some injuries, he could no foothold in Bochum. The duration of the illness dragged on and to this day is not known to what disease it was. After his recovery, however, Auer could not continue to expand due to the residues training, lack of fitness and lack of match practice in Bochum. It was enough for two brief appearances at the end of the season. In order to gain match practice, he was loaned out during the winter break at the first FC Kaiserslautern, but even there the misfortune pursued him further: During a test match in the run in Spain, Auer injured again at the knees and fell for a few weeks out. Only on the second match he could be used and made a good game against Karlsruher SC. Then again, however, followed a few relapses, which probably could be attributed to the disease in the summer. Since 2007, Auer was playing for VfL Bochum. With the start of the second half of the 2007/08 season he scored again to the root formation.

For the 2008/09 season Auer moved to TSV Alemannia Aachen. There he was this season with 16 goals in addition to Cédric Makiadi and Marek Mintal scorer in the Bundesliga 2. Following the resignation Cristian fiels as captain, he was appointed coach Michael Kruger on 6 February 2010 as the new captain of Alemannia. After the 2011/12 season Auer left the Alemannia after their relegation from the Bundesliga 2 and has since been without a club.

In the ranking of the most successful German U -21 goal scorers he came in second behind Pierre Littbarski (18) and Heiko Herrlich (17 ) with 15 goals ranked third. In a total of 60 games for the various youth teams of the DFB from the U-16 team scored until the Team 2006 Auer around 30 goals. Private
