Benjamin DeMott

Benjamin DeMott ( born June 2, 1924 in Rockville Centre, Long Iceland, New York, † September 29, 2005 in Worthington, Massachusetts ) was an American author, cultural critic and professor.

Life

DeMott sat apart especially with the contemporary American life.

In addition to numerous other works DeMott was particularly known for his cultural criticism in numerous magazines and his trilogy consisting of the works of The Imperial Middle: Why Americans Can not Think Straight about Class ( 1990), The Trouble with Friendship: Why American 's Can not Think Straight about Race (1995) and Killer Woman Blues: Why Americans Can not Think Straight about gender ( 2000).
