Benjamin Heisenberg

Benjamin Heisenberg ( born June 9, 1974 in Tübingen ) is a German film director, writer and visual artist. His grandfather was the physicist and Nobel laureate Werner Heisenberg.

Life

Heisenberg grew up in Reichenberg near Würzburg, the son of neurobiologist Martin Heisenberg and Apollonia Countess zu Eulenburg, a niece of Carl Friedrich and Richard von Weizsäcker at. After finishing school in 1993 he studied sculpture under Olaf Metzel to 1999 and received his diploma in 2000 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. From 1995 to 1997 he worked as an assistant to Walter Grasskamp at the Department of Art History of the Academy. Upon completion of his studies in 1998 Heisenberg was awarded the debutant price, with the best three students a year group are excellent. Immediately afterwards he studied film directing at the University of Television and Film Munich until he completed the studies in 2005 with his film sleeper.

In 2010 he received for his film The Robber, has the life of the Austrian criminals Johann Berger box on the subject, an invitation to the competition of the 60th Berlin Film Festival.
